Day Away at Kingfisher Bay

You don’t need a four-wheel-drive to spend quality time on Fraser Island. With a Day Away trip, you can literally laze the day away on Fraser’s sheltered western side.Our 'Day Away' package from Hervey Bay includes:

• A Ranger-guided morning eco walk within the resort's grounds
• A Ranger-guided canoe paddle to the mangrove colony at Dundonga Creek (book at the Jetty Hut on arrival)
• Cast off a line a the jetty or western beach - we'll provide the rods
• Access to Kingfisher Bay Resort’s amenities including The Sand Bar's pools.

Your ‘Day Away’ starts as you are picked up from your accommodation house and transferred to the River Heads jetty for your scenic cruise across the Great Sandy Strait (ferries depart at 0900 or 1230) – and you can pick your return time home at 2pm, 5pm or later. On arrival you’ll be met by a Resort Ranger who’ll explain the lay of the land and the run down of your day’s activities.

The calm waters of the Great Sandy Strait are safe for the family to swim and fish. Plus there are optional water sports, learn to fish clinics, canoe paddles or Junior Eco Ranger activities for a small additional cost. For the bigger children there are tennis courts and for the little ones an Ausplay playground with climbing frames, swings and slides. The resort’s Sand Bar restaurant also has two large swimming pools to amuse.
